LittleBigPlanet Delayed to Week of October 27

Gamers waiting to get their hands on LittleBigPlanet next week are going to have to wait a little bit longer.

Word of the delay broke before Sony could make an official announcement and rumors began to spread that the delay was the result of a song included with lyrics from the Qur’an which might offend Muslim players.

Now Sony has made an official statement which seems to back the rumors.

“During the review process prior to the release of LittleBigPlanet, it has been brought to our attention that one of the background music tracks licensed from a record label for use in the game contains two expressions that can be found in the Qur’an. We have taken immediate action to rectify this and we sincerely apologize for any offense that this may have caused.”

Sony has gone on to confirm a new release date time frame, at least in North America. The release status in other regions is still unknown.

“We will begin shipping LittleBigPlanet to retail in North America the week of October 27th. Sorry for the delay, and rest assured, we are doing everything we can to get LittleBigPlanet to you as soon as possible.”

Media outlets, HDR included, have already received a copy of the pre-fixed version. Are these destined to become collector’s items?
