Last week I was skimming the Lionsgate press website and noticed the second wave of Blu-ray Disc titles were listed both on August 22 and August 29. For a brief moment it occurred to me the titles might be shifting back a week, but I quickly dismissed the double listing as an error. In hindsight, I should have gone with my intital gut instinct.
Today I confirmed with Lionsgate that their second wave of Blu-ray Disc titles consisting of ‘Stargate,’ ‘The Devil’s Rejects,’ ‘Total Recall’ and ‘Stir of Echoes’ has indeed been pushed back to August 29, which might explain why some of you had pre-orders not fulfilled or couldn’t locate any of the titles in stores today. The reason for this delay remains a mystery; though, given it’s brevity, I can’t imagine the shift was due to anything other than a marketing numbers game.
I’m still waiting to receive our review copies and when I do, I’ll jump into one ASAP to see if Lionsgate has improved upon the quality issues that marred wave one. Stay tuned.
