Lego City Undercover Gets March Release Date and 3DS Prequel

Lego City Undercover Gets March Release Date and 3DS PrequelNintendo’s Wii U release date shuffling that landed Lego City Undercover, expected to be a hot-selling exclusive for the new console, on March 18. It was initially expected to be available before Christmas. Then in January. And now the final date falls just within Nintendo’s launch window that closes on March 31, 2013.

An unexpected bonus to this delay is learning that a prequel to Lego City Undercover has been in the works for release exclusively on 3DS, and will arrive in stores on April 21, only a month after the Wii U version drops. I have confirmed with Nintendo that this new game titled Lego City Undercover: The Chase Begins will be a full-blown retail release and not a smaller download-only title.

Lego City Undercover: The Chase Begins stars Chase McCain, the same cop you will play as in Lego City Undercover. Only in this game Chase is a rookie with much to learn, whereas in Lego City Undercover he is a hardened crime fighter that knows how to get the job done.

Unfortunately there is no additional information available about Lego City Undercover: The Chase Begins at this time. However, I have a few new Lego City Undercover screens to share below that include pig launching out of a cannon. I’m not kidding.
