One of the most frustratingly delightful and addictive video games I played in my youthful years was Ghosts ‘n Goblins. Following several iterations over the years, this classic is finally coming back with a polished vintage look and multiple difficulty settings in Capcom’s Ghosts ‘n Goblins Resurrection for Nintendo Switch.
Old school Ghosts ‘n Goblins will find a lot of familiar elements in this new take on the series. Familiar music, enemies, and weapons like the dagger and more have carried forward for the next generation.
The dagger will be joined by a new short-range weapon called called the Hammer that can rebury any undead that pop out of the ground. Believe me there’s no shortage of those.
New enhancements include removing tethering magic to a weapon or armor and making it available via Arthur’s Magic Waistband. Old favorites like Thunderstorm return and are joined by new magic types such as Emboulden, which turns Arthur into a giant rolling rock. Check it out flattening baddies in the new trailer below.
One of the biggest new features is an alternate take of the entire game. Upon completion, players will be given the option to tackle a “Shadow” version which is an alternate take on previously conquered levels. Needless to say the “Shadow” version will be harder to complete than the non”Shadow” version.
Ghosts ‘n Goblins Resurrection will at least initially be a Nintendo Switch digital exclusive available to play starting February 25th, 2021. As of now you can head into the Switch eShop and place a pre-order for $29.99.
