Warner Bros., Zack Snyder and Christopher Nolan have their Superman in Henry Cavill. Now the Man of Steel needs his leading lady.
With the hot female role of Selina Kyle in Nolan’s own The Dark Knight Rises going to Anne Hathaway, the role of Lois Lane has instantly become a magnet for Hollywood’s elite actresses. Warner Bros. is apparently already well into the casting process and, according to some ‘Net rumors, several ladies have already read for the role.
The name drawing the most attention right now is Twilight’s Kristen Stewart. She was mentioned as having already read via a social media and brand consultant on Twitter, as well as in a more robust rumor report at What’s Playing. Let’s be honest; no one outside the Twilight universe wants to see her in the role so it’s had to imagine the Twilight star a favorite.
Other names in the WP rumor report as either having already read or being discussed amongst the film’s creative team include Watchmen’s Malin Akerman, Glee’s Dianna Agron, Jessica Biel (who lost out on the Selina Kyle role to Anne Hathaway), and Rachel McAdams who was also in the running for a Batman 3 role.
The report suggests McAdams and Biel are the current front-runners and wouldn’t be surprised to see Biel announced as being cast in the coming weeks. Given the high profile nature of Superman and the Lois Lane role, other actresses are most certainly under consideration as well.
