The latest iteration of what Kevin Smith’s Clerks 3 will become appears to be a film, much like the previous two installments. Not a Broadway play. Not a book. An actual motion picture.
To share his new endeavor and apparently new final film, Smith took to Facebook early Friday morning and posted the following message:
THE BEGINNING OF THE END
20 years ago today, we started shooting CLERKS.
20 years later, with no plan or provocation, I jumped out of bed at 4:20 this morning and started writing CLERKS III.
It’s been like hanging out with old friends.
And after 2 hours of tapping the keys and giggling, I have come to a conclusion…
CLERKS III will be the best film I’ll ever make
The message was accompanied by a screenshot of the Clerks 3 title page, snapped right off his Apple computer. While we know nothing about which direction the film will go to warrant it being the “best film he will ever make,” you can bet that Smith will only shoot it if he maintains full creative control.
