The Superman reboot casting front was on fire this afternoon with Kevin Costner’s name moving quickly from attached to possibly land a “key role” to scoring the role of Jonathan “Pa” Kent.
In between the first mention by Deadline and the role report by Latino Review there were a lot of rumors floating around including Lex Luthor of all people. One look at Costner and trip down memory lane to his rural role in Field of Dreams immediately makes you think of Clark Kent’s “Pa.” He even somewhat resembles what Henry Cavill, already cast as Clark Kent / Superman, might look like in 25 years or so if he spends a lot of time in the sun.
According to LR’s Twitter feed Warner Bros. has already been in contact with them to remove the scoop which pretty much confirms its validity. Zack Snyder and co-producer now appear to have two roles in the can and many more to fill out before shooting begins on Superman later this year.
