The Rolling Stones rocker Keith Richards has been confirmed to reappear in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise alongside Johnny Depp in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.
A Reuters article about Richards states he and Depp “are currently shooting the series’ fourth installment, where Richards reprises his role as Sparrow’s father.” That’s all the article offers so right now we don’t know if Richards’ presence will be for another quick cameo or something more substantial and relevant to the plot.
Richards originally appeared as Jack Sparrow’s father, Captain Teague, in 2007’s Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End.
Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides also stars Penelope Cruz, Ian McShane and Geoffrey Rush. Disney will release it in 2D and 3D on May 20, 2011.
