Julia Roberts may be best known as the queen of chick flicks such as Pretty Woman but her next gig is a different kind of royalty altogether.
Roberts has signed the dotted line to star as The Evil Queen in Relativity’s Snow White project based on the Brothers Grimm fable. The negotiations between Roberts and Relativity were first reported over a week ago by Empire and were wrapped up earlier today.
Visionary director Tarsem Singh (The Cell, The Fall) will helm this take on Snow White in which she and the seven dwarves seek revenge against her evil stepmother for killing her father. The role of Snow White has yet to be cast.
This Snow White project will be competing with Universal’s Snow White and the Huntsman. That project has Viggo Mortensen attached as the Huntsman, Twilight’s Kristen Stewart as Snow White and Charlize Theron as The Evil Queen.
Relativity’s Snow White is set for release on June 29, 2012. Filming is expected to begin in April.
