Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield) and Electro (Jamie Foxx) from The Amazing Spider-Man 2 square off on the cover of the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly. The Comic-Con preview issue has new looks at other upcoming films such as Carrie with Chloe Grace Moretz and Ender’s Game with Harrison Ford and Asa Butterfield. It’s the new Spider-Man image that offers the biggest reveal.
As Marc Webb was filming The Amazing Spider-Man 2 in New York City, many images were snapped and shared on the web of various scenes being filmed. One such scene showed Foxx wearing a hoodie with his head painted blue underneath. He looked dazed and confused, as if this was just after Electro gained his powers.
This new images of Electro shows him in all of his CGI-enhanced glory. Electricity is zapped into his head, though at this point we don’t know if those streaks of light will be stationary or moving in the finished film. What we do know is that somehow Electro gets himself a pretty nifty outfit with a lightning bolt logo on its sleeve. It makes you wonder if Norman Osborn didn’t supply the outfit as it looks far from homemade.
Spidey will certainly have his hands full in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. In addition to taking on Electro, he will also square off against Rhino (Paul Giamatti) and possibly either the Green Goblin or New Goblin. Both Norman Osborn (Chris Cooper) and Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan) are in the film. The webslinger will also have to try to keep his promise to Gwen Stacy’s dad to stay away from her and keep her out of harm’s way. We all know how that is going to work out.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 release date is May 2, 2014.
