James Bond is coming back with a familiar face in front of the camera and a new one behind.
In a move that has been speculated for over a month and finally confirmed by MGM earlier today via Deadline, Daniel Craig will reprise 007 in James Bond 23. The secret agent will return to theaters on November 9, 2012.
MGM also confirmed that Sam Mendes will direct James Bond 23. He was previously attached to the project before MGM’s financial woes escalated and the project went on a prolonged hiatus.
The story, penned by Neal Purvis, Robert Wade and John Logan, is being kept under wraps for the time being. All that’s known is it is expected to pick up where Quantum of Solace left off, maintaining the time line continuity established with Craig’s first turn at Bond in Casino Royale.
With Bond ready to return from vacation, MGM is expected to begin the casting process for the remaining roles in the film.
