Konami Digital Entertainment VP and director of Kojima Productions, the legendary Mr. Hideo Kojima, has seen an early screening of Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim. To say the producer and mastermind behind the Metal Gear franchise was impressed is a massive understatement.
Upon seeing Pacific Rim, Kojima took to Twitter to share his impressions of the film. Not just one tweet, mind you, but a series of ringing endorsements using words like “ultimate,” “love letter” and “spectacular.”
Kojima once dreamed of working in film but ultimately chose the video game medium instead to tell the stories he wanted to tell. Reading these tweets makes you wonder if Kojima won’t dabble a little in Hollywood after he wraps Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, which he considers to be his final Metal Gear game.
Kojima does preface these tweets by stating WB publicity folks gave him permission to make them. Still, I get the impression these are coming from the heart and are not being directly influenced by outside forces with their own agenda.
I have never imagined that I would be fortunate enough to see a film like this in my life.
