Legendary singer/guitarist Jimi Hendrix will come back to life in Activision Blizzard’s Guitar Hero World Tour as a playable character on Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii.
Master recordings for two songs from Hendrix’s catalog will be packaged on the launch disc: “Purple Haze (Live)” recorded in 1969 at the San Diego Sports Arena and “The Wind Cries Mary.”
Additional Hendrix classics will trickle out post-release via download from either Xbox Live Marketplace, the Playstation Network or WiiConnect.
Guitar Hero World Tour is expected on store shelves this October on Xbox 360, Playstation 3, Playstation 2 and Nintendo Wii. Neversoft Entertainment, who brought the house down last week at an E3-timed press event in LA by jamming near flawlessly to Van Halen’s Hot for Teacher on expert, is only developing the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions.
