A new regulatory filing made by Activision suggests a new Guitar Hero is in the works and will be released early next year.
According to the 10-K filing, Activision will release Guitar Hero: Metallica in fiscal 2009. For you non-business types, that means sometime between now and March 31, 2009.
This news marks the third Guitar Hero game in the works and leaves us wondering if Activision is milking the cow too fast. Already we’re looking at Guitar Hero: Aerosmith for Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and Wii in the coming weeks. Then Guitar Hero IV later this year with the monstrous drum kit.
At the very least, it confirms Activision has spun-off guitar-only versions of the game centered around a single band while the main guitar hero game has evolved into a Rock Band adversary.
In this economy, the cheapest Guitar Hero could turn out to be the bestseller.
