Ghostbusters PS3, Xbox 360 Game in Jeopardy

The Ghostbusters are going to need to call a new publisher.

The newly merged company of Activision Videndi has brought the axe down on several titles previously thought to be releasing this fall.

The big name in the group is Ghostbusters which was to be released simultaneously with all-new Blu-ray Disc and DVD versions in October. Sony Pictures Home Entertainment is unlikely to stand idle and let this cross-promotion die so easily so we expect a new publisher will come on board.

Other titles missing from Activision Blizzard’s upcoming slate include Brutal Legend, Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena, 50 Cent Blood on the Sand, Zombie Wranglers, World at Conflict: Soviet Assault and Leisure Suit Larry: Box Office Bust.

The fate of these titles, like Ghostbusters, remains a mystery at this time. Activison Blizzard’s official stance on the situation is as follows.

“We have conducted a thorough review of Vivendi Games’ brand portfolio and are retaining those franchises and titles that are a strong fit with our long-term product strategy. We are reviewing our options regarding those titles that we will not be publishing.”

We’ll have further updates as new information regarding Activision Blizzard’s plans surfaces.
