Microsoft Game Studios and Lionhead Studios has announced timing, pricing and details for the much-anticipated Fable 2 “Pub Games,” allowing players to get a head start on Fable 2 by earning gold that can be uploaded into the final Fable 2 game later this year.
The Pub Games that will be available sometime next month include Keystone, which is a combination of Craps and Roulette, Spinnerbox, which is an updated take on slot machines, and Fortune’s Tower, which is a press your luck style of game. A “Shell” tutorial for all three games will also be available.
Any gold earned while playing these Xbox Live Arcade Pub Games will be immediately accessible for use in Fable 2. You’ll be able to purchase weapons, clothing, houses, dog tricks and more from the moment you start the game for the first time.
The Pub Games will be available for free download to players who pre-order Fable 2 at a participating retailer (re: ask first). They will also be available for 800 Microsoft Points and will be embedded into the final Fable 2 discs.
In other Fable 2 news, an obligatory “collector’s edition” will be released that includes a bonus disc with a new behind-the-scenes making of video, collectible Hobbe figure, a LIVE trial card and additional in-game content for $79.99. Typically these sets do not include additional in-game content so it will be interesting to see how this news affects sales.
Fable 2 is still waiting an official release date likely to be announced at E3 next week.
