EA’s NBA Elite 11 is Canceled

NBA Elite 11 was officially canned by Electronic Arts today during the company’s quarterly conference call with investors.

The cancellation comes after EA had previously delayed the game into 2011, which had promised to offer a breakthrough basketball experience, in order to make sure it was firing on all cylinders. It would appear that rather than release a game either halfway or at the end of the NBA season, EA is going to hit the reset button and set its sights on next fall.

The most intriguing part of NBA Elite 11’s cancellation is that development on the next game is moving from EA Canada to Florida’s Tiburon, home of the Madden NFL football game franchise. They’ll need to bring their “A” game now that Michael Jordan is the face of 2K Sports NBA 2K franchise.
