Disney Infinity ‘The Toy Box’ Featurette Invites Creativity

The easiest answer to why Disney Infinity is different than Skylanders is Infinity’s Toy Box mode. To illustrate what Toy Box mode is capable of and how it came about, the second part of the ongoing Creating Disney Infinity video series has been released.

Comparing Toy Box to Skylanders is unfair to both properties as there really is no comparison. A more appropriate comparison to Toy Box would be Minecraft or LittleBigPlanet where levels and actions within those levels are up to the player’s imagination.

This new Toy Box featurette traces Toy Box mode back to its roots in the Toy Story 3 game from Avalanche Software and its evolution into Disney Infinity. Several Disney, Pixar and Avalanche heavyweights such as John Lasseter, Lee Unkrich and John Blackburn check in to add their two cents about what makes Toy Box mode so unique.

I do have to call out Lasseter for exclaiming that there’s nothing else out there as creative as Toy Box mode. Clearly he hasn’t played Minecraft or LittleBigPlanet before.

Disney Infinity is coming to Xbox 360, PS3, Wii and Wii U on August 18.
