Showtime is looking to the past to serve up a hint at the future in new promotional spots for Dexter: Season 7 and Homeland: Season 2. Both shows kick off their respective new season on Sunday, September 30.
For Dexter, Showtime built the new promo around the idea that Deb (Jennifer Carpenter) has had the clues about her brother Dexter’s (Michael C. Hall) dark passenger over the course of the series. The promo flashes back to key moments in the Dexter timeline, from the discovery of the Bay Harbor Butcher’s dumping grounds right up to Deb catching Dexter red-handed in the act of murder.
The question raised by the promo is whether Dexter and Deb can keep everything from falling apart now that the secret’s about Dexter’s life are coming together. We’ll find out in the next 24 episodes as that’s all that left before Dexter signs out for good one way or the other.
For Homeland, the new promo spot looks back at Carrie’s (Claire Danes) personal investigation into Nicholas Brody (Damian Lewis) since his return from captivity in the Middle East. The catch is that these are all memories she is likely to forget during the procedure to “fix” her brain that began in the Season 1 finale. Your guess is as good as mine as to how Carrie gets back in the game.
