Jon Favreau has hit up Twitter to tease us all about the first teaser trailer for Cowboys and Aliens starring Daniel Craig, Sam Rockwell, Olivia Wilde and Harrison Ford. The bottom line: it could appear literally any day now.
Favreau’s first tweet read simply enough “trailer news coming soon…,” followed a couple hours later by a more encouraging and informational “Finished final sound mix of #CowboysandAliens teaser trailer. We’re locked and loaded…”
Looking ahead to this weekend for potential films to attach Cowboys and Aliens to reveals a frontrunner in Skyline, the low in budget but high in visual effects alien invasion flick. Cowboys and Aliens also deals with an alien invasion but it is being distributed by Paramount whereas Skyline is a Universal release. Still, the odds seem favorable given the genre match. It could also show up on Fox’s thriller Unstoppable which has the highest screen count at over 3,000. Paramount’s only release this weekend is Morning Glory which actually hits theaters on Wednesday and caters more towards women.
With Warner Bros. bowing The Green Lantern trailer next weekend in front of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and no other big Paramount release for at least a month, this weekend seems like the ideal time to let Cowboys and Aliens stand in the spotlight by itself.
Cowboys and Aliens is set for release on July 29, 2011.
