Chloe Moretz steps into the shoes of bullied Carrie in the upcoming Sony remake, and judging by the first trailer, the studio figures everyone already knows what’s going to happen.
The original 1976 film based on the bestselling book by Stephen King and starring Sissy Spacek and Piper Laurie as mother and daughter, respectively, is generally known as a horror classic. For the remake, director Kimberly Peirce is telling virtually the same story, though it looks like we’ll get to see much more of Carrie’s reprisal against her classmates for dumping a bucket of blood on her at prom.
Playing against Chloe Moretz as mom is Julianne Moore and the trailer also gives away her arc from concerned mother to abused mother once Carrie discovers her abilities and starts putting them to use.
Carrie aims to fulfill the “trick” portion of trick-or-treat when it arrives in theaters just in time for Halloween on October 18, 2013.
