Anything following in the footsteps of Marvel’s two-minute Captain America: The Winter Soldier clip featuring Cap (Chris Evans) and Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) assaulting a ship overrun with pirates was certain to fly under the radar and play second fiddle. That’s precisely what happened with two small but neat tidbits that have surfaced from The First Avenger’s second solo outing.
First up is a “backstage” behind-the-scenes look at the Captain America: The Winter Soldier 12″ line from high-end action figure producer Hot Toys. If The Avengers Hot Toys line completely selling out is any indication, these bad boys will sell out just the same.
What we can gather from the single picture is that two Captain America figures are in the works. The first is the new stealth outfit as seen in the various trailers and TV spots, while the second is the tweaked version of the First Avenger costume he wore during his final mission in the 1940s that resurfaces in modern day.
The image also clearly reveals a Black Widow figure is on the way, which would be the third incarnation in action figure form from Hot Toys bearing the likeness of Scarlett Johansson. The Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan) is also clearly recognizable due to his stable of guns and metallic left arm, and Falcon’s (Anthony Mackie) unpainted prototype backpack is on display.
Next up is a Black Widow vignette that was released through Marvel’s UK publicity arm. It runs a brief 90 seconds and includes interviews with Evans and Johansson, and maybe a couple seconds worth of scenes not seen in any of the previously released footage.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier is now less than a month away from its April 4 release date.
