The wildly successful Call of Duty franchise will be making its way onto Sony’s newest handheld system, the PS Vita, this fall.
In an interview with GT.TV, Sony Vice President of PlayStation Marketing, Guy Longworth, said that, “in the autumn, they (his teenage sons) were looking forward to Call of Duty on the Vita.” While a huge franchise like CoD on a hot new system like the PS Vita isn’t news, what is interesting is that Longworth goes on to call the title, “An absolute game changer for the platform.”
I doubt an older CoD title would be considered a “game changer,” which leads us to believe that maybe the already rumored Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 could be making its way to the Vita.
And if we open that can of worms, we can also surmise that the Vita CoD and the PS3 CoD may have the same connectivity features as, say, MLB12 The Show, which would allow you to start a game on the PS3 and then continue it on the go with the Vita.
And if Sony and AT&T get 3G features working for online gaming, you are now carrying around a fully realized, and fully portable version of one of the world’s most popular online multiplayer shooters. Jobs will be lost, productivity will come to a halt, and the world will fall into chaos. Maybe this is what the Mayan’s were alluding to. Only time will tell.
