BioShock Infinite to Feature 1999 Mode for Hardcore Gamers

BioShock Infinite to Feature 1999 Mode for Hardcore GamersIrrational Games wants to ensure that BioShock Infinite is a challenging game for even the most hardcore and talented gamers.

To put players skills to the ultimate test, Irrational Games has developed a new 1999 Mode designed after the more challenging games of yesteryear. The mode will be available to play from the first time the game is booted up, and will features tweaks and features completely separate from the other difficulty settings.

For example, when specializations are picked, they will be permanent decisions with consequences that will carry forward throughout the campaign. Weapon, power and health management will be more demanding, and players will be kicked to the “Game Over” screen if adequate resources are not available to bring them back from the dead.

There’s likely an Xbox 360 Achievement and Playstation 3 Trophy tied to completing BioShock Infinite in 1999 Mode. Not that I have a snowball’s chance in hell of ever doing so.

BioShock Infinite is due in stores for Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and the PC later this year.
