Bayonetta 2 for Wii U is not only real, but it’s spectacular, as evidenced by a new behind-the-scenes trailer shot at Crystal Dynamics that premiered during Nintendo’s Direct presentation earlier today.
Nintendo president Satoru Iwata introduced the Bayonetta 2 video and stated that development on the game is going well. The video backs up his claim as it powers through various in-progress looks at characters, locations, animatics and more.
One of the notable quotes delivered by the development team during the video is that the game “feels like you are fighting the last boss from the very beginning” due to its much bigger scale. A bigger and better Bayonetta experience in high definition is exactly what gamers want, and this trailer teases that’s precisely what is in the works.
Unfortunately the lack of a gameplay trailer makes me wonder how far off Bayonetta 2 really is. The Wii U exclusive sequel was originally planned to be published by Sega sometime in the second quarter. That’s looking unlikely now, and Nintendo isn’t offering a firm release window at this time, much less a specific release date.
Enjoy the Bayonetta 2 behind-the-scenes video below. In fact, I highly recommend watching it more than once.
