Robert Rodriguez knew what he was doing when casting his friend and Sky Kids actor Alexa Vega as a prostitute’s protector in the sequel Machete Kills.
He saw something in Vega we didn’t, or couldn’t as the case may be, mostly because we all remember Alexa as that little girl running around in three Sky Kids films and not the various projects she has been involved in since. Now that Rolling Stone magazine has released the first image of Vega as Killjoy from the film, it’s easy to see some of the big reasons she landed the part.
Vega strips down to lingerie and chaps with silencer at hand as the deadly guardian Killjoy. There are exploding cars, too, but I’m guessing no one cares about those. This is a sexy and fit Vega audiences aren’t accustomed to. Machete Kills could end up sparking her career if the performance can match the killer look.
Machete Kills co-stars Sofia Vergara, Amber Heard, Jessica Alba, Danny Trejo, Mel Gibson, Charlie Sheen, Vanessa Hudgens, Antonio Banderas, Edward James Olmos, Cuba Gooding Jr., William Sadler and Lady Gaga. It will be released in 2013.
