Today Activision announced ‘Pimp My Ride’ is currently in development at Eutechnyx and will be available on Xbox 360 and Playstation 2 this holiday season. In addition, they’ve released the first game details, cover art and screenshots for the until now little-known-about title.
Those familiar with the MTV show, which I hope are most of you, shouldn’t be surprised to learn that the guts of the game revolves around adding lavish, over-the-top accessories and paint jobs to vehicles. Instead of playing the part of the vehicle owner, you’ll step into an Xhibit-type role and be responsible for pimping the rides of those in need of a good pimp job. You’ll have to assess their personality, complete the pimp, and then return to be graded. At the same time, a rival shop will be working on a similar pimp. May the best pimp win.
Other in-game action will comprise of racing pimped out vehicles through open streets, and completing in a timed controller button sequence mini-game in which you’ll dance to beats next to your car moving in drive. Get your groove on well and big bucks that will lead to grander pimp jobs await.
Check the attached screenshots for a first look at the game and don’t be surprised if they’re a bit underwhelming. Remember, ‘Pimp My Ride’ is being developed for Playstation 2 as well which will reflect in the Xbox 360 version.
