Although not even a day old, Activision Blizzard, the new mega-game publisher formed by yesterday’s merger between Activision and Vivendi, is already following in EA’s gigantic footsteps.
In this morning’s conference call, Robert Kotick, CEO of Activision stated “You can expect virtually every one of those properties (10 multi-million unit-selling game franchises) will be exploited on an annual or close to annual basis…” EA is well known for cranking out new iterations of its best-selling franchises on an annual basis, and now it appears Activision Blizzard will follow suit. Already in the pipeline and confirmed by the new publisher are Call of Duty 5 and Guitar Hero 4.
This is likely just the beginning of information expected to trickle out from this historical gaming merger. Stay tuned for what the future may hold for your favorite formerly Activision and Vivendi franchises.
