Star Wars: The Force Awakens Comic-Con Bound and Daisy Ridley Toes Spoilers Line

The Force will be strong at the San Diego Comic-Con next month following today’s announcement that Lucasfilm will be in Hall H and bringing a new look at Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens with them.

The official Star Wars website made the big announcement today and teased that J.J Abrams and Kathleen Kennedy will be in attendance to “provide a special look” at Star Wars Episode 7. Special guests will also be in attendance so I would expect Star Wars Celebration attendees Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac and new droid BB-8 at minimum to step onto the stage to the tune of thunderous applause. Lucasfilm and Disney can really get the crowd on their feet if Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill also show up.

Speaking of Daisy Ridley, she recently popped up on the Star Wars Report Podcast in a Japanese interview snippet (via Making Star Wars). In the clip, Ridley addresses her character Rey’s lineage with a cryptic yet somewhat revealing response that adds fuel to a particular spoiler theory floating around.

“I’m not sure how much I can say. I guess because I’ve said that I’m solitary, and that’s how I begin, that is probably a big clue as to what it is.”

Given that Ridley admits her answer is a clue in and of itself, and she deliberately uses the word “solitary,” let the rumors about Rey being the daughter of Han “Solo” continue to gain strength. That is assuming her character’s real name is Rey given production art shows her as “Kira” and so did the actress’ trailer nameplate.

Tomorrow, January 11, EW is supposed to pass along details about upcoming Star Wars: The Force Awakens merchandise that will appear at Comic-Con. Maybe we’ll get a sneak peek at something new well ahead of the official September 4, 2015 release date for The Force Awakens merchandise blitz.
