The stakes have been raised in the new The Hunger Games Mockingjay trailer that offers a first glimpse into the rebellion against Panem and President Snow (Donald Sutherland).
Fresh off being rescued, Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) has been taken to the underground District 13 where she is called upon by President Alma Coin (Julianne Moore) to serve as the Mockingjay, a symbol of hope that will ultimately topple the oppressive regime. She will have to overcome a lot including the pressures of leading the rebellion as well as the appearance of Peeta (Josh Hutcherson), a prisoner that President Snow has apparently turned against his own.
Complicating Katniss’ love life is her reunion, training and combat with Gale (Liam Hemsworth), a background character in the first two times that will finally get to come out of his shell, including firing explosive-tipped arrows. The trailer ends with one of those arrows finding its mark in what might be the first official shots fired against President Snow’s forces.
Lionsgate’s The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 will aim for box office records when it opens on November 21. Ticket pre-sales will commence on October 29 so be ready to pounce on them if you want to catch one of the midnight opening showings as they will certainly sell out fast.
