The NickelodeonPeabody Award-winning children’s animated series Dora The Explorer is officially in production as a live-action feature-film, and Paramount Players has shared the first publicity image of the title character.
Isabela Moner (Transformers: The Last Knight, Sicario: Day of the Soldado, Instant Family) plays Dora as she begins her biggest adventure yet: high school. When Dora’s parents goes missing, who she has explored may jungles with, Dora and her friends leap into action to save them and uncover the mystery behind a lost Inca civilization.
The cast also includes Eugenio Derbez as Alejandro, a mysterious jungle inhabitant; Micke Moreno as Dora’s cousin Diego; Nicholas Coombe as Randy, one of Dora’s classmates with a crush on the heroic adventurer; Madeleine Madden as Sammy, the class president; Adriana Barraza as Dora’s grandma, Abuelita Valerie; and Temuera Morrison as Powell.
Dora’s best friend Boots, the monkey, is also confirmed, though no word on whether Boots will be CGI or played by a live-action monkey.
Dora The Explorer arrives in theaters on August 2, 2019, with filming taking place entirely on Australia’s Gold Coast.
