A few days ago the Internet not privy to attending the Paramount panel at Comic-Con finally got a look at Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar Trailer 2 via the film’s official website. While the trailer was indeed sprinkled with imagery clearly inspired by Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey as Comic-Con attendees described it was, the online version was not a YouTube video that could be enlarged without a drop in clarity. Instead it was in a tiny little window that you almost had to squint at in order to pick up any detail.
Now the Interstellar Trailer 2 YouTube 1080p HD version from Comic-Con 2014 is finally live and you can watch space explorers Matthew McConaughey and Anne Hathaway find a planet on the other side of the wormhole. Imagery that could be alien technology briefly appears, but it’s impossible to tell for certain, surely by design.
There’s a strong theme regarding McConaughey’s character returning home to his family throughout the trailer and I suspect we get a glimpse of that miracle with a spacecraft splashed down in the ocean. The big question is when in time does the expedition return to earth, and what age are the kids he left behind in order to save planet earth from a never ending dust storm.
Interstellar will be Christopher Nolan’s first film released since The Dark Knight Rises when it lands in theaters on November 7.
