EA and Respawn Entertainment unveiled the first teaser trailer for the highly-anticipated Titanfall 2 today. The teaser, which is short and shows no in-game footage, does what teasers are supposed to do: get people talking. While it is only a teaser, more information about the game is promised during the June 12 worldwide reveal, which is actually what the teaser is teasing.
The Titanfall 2 teaser does introduce one new feature to the epic, large scale FPS/RPG and that is the inclusion of swords. As you can see from the teaser embedded below, a new melee attack could be devastating, and fans of the franchise are already thinking about possible sword fights between Titans, which — on new gen systems, could be phenomenal if executed correctly.
Titanfall 2 ditches the Xbox One/Microsoft exclusivity, and will be available for the PlayStation 4 in addition to Xbox One and PC. This will be the first time that PS4 players will have the chance to play the game, and the bigger system imprint should help the series find a much larger audience. Last month’s bombshell by Microsoft in regards to possibly lifting the the game system-specific firewall so players can play cross-platform could be huge here for EA and Respawn, but Sony’s tepid response to allowing cross play may have put a premature stop to the movement. Titanfall 2 could be the perfect vehicle (pun intended) to introduce cross-platform play, so if Sony is listening, make it happen!
Until then, enjoy the Titanfall 2 teaser and come back in mid-June (right before the start of E3 in Los Angeles) to see more of the highly-anticapited Titanfall sequel.
Titanfall 2 will presumably be out this fall/winter and will be available for the Xbox One, Playstation 4 and PB.
