Homer, Bart, Maggie, Lisa, Marge and a slew of other The Simpsons characters are coming to Minecraft in all their blocky glory a little over a month from now.
Microsoft has announced The Simpsons Minecraft skins release date for late February, 2015, with an exact date to be revealed sometime between now and then. The skins will include the entire aforementioned Simpsons family as well as 19 additional characters plucked from the hallways of Springfield Elementary, made possible by an agreement between Microsoft, Twentieth Century Fox and Gracie films. I expect the additional characters to include a mix of teachers and students.
The Simpsons Minecraft DLC pack will be available simultaneously on Minecraft for Xbox One and Minecraft for Xbox 360, so you’ll be able to administer a Springfield flavor to your new Minecraft worlds regardless of which Xbox console you own. Pricing for either console version is set at $1.99.
PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and PS Vita owners will also likely gain access to the Minecraft The Simpsons DLC pack at an unspecified later date. In Microsoft’s public relations team’s words, “Stay tuned for more information on The Simpsons downloadable content pack on other platforms.” The Xbox consoles get first dibs as Minecraft developer Mojang was purchased by Microsoft late last year.
