PS4 vs Xbox One Call of Duty Advanced Warfare Comparison: Split-Screen Edition

Activision’s Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare has been available to own for almost a week now, allowing ample time for someone to create a decent PS4 vs Xbox One video where the two platforms can be compared side-by-side for the same game. I found an Xbox One vs PS4 comparison video on YouTube worth sharing that offers positive notes for owners of both platforms.

The Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare PS4 vs Xbox One video runs a brisk four minutes and includes a nice selection of combat and cut-scenes to compare in regular or slowed-down speed. You can even compare Kevin Spacey between the two consoles, if desired.

My overall take of the video is that the two versions are nearly identical, and I’m making this decision with the assumption that the footage was captured from the same TV or monitor. I have gone back and forth a few times and there are no performance issues regarding lag or other anomalies that appear to pop up.

In fact, the only discernible difference I can detect is the PS4 versions of Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is noticeably brighter than the Xbox One version. As a result, black areas in the Xbox One version lose detail compared to the PS4 version. In the realm of home video critiquing we call this “black crush.”

It is entirely possible that this person’s PS4 and Xbox One consoles are not configured evenly. The Xbox One could have brightness turned down, which would cause the same effect. If that were the case then I’d say good luck finding any other differences as this footage runs virtually identical otherwise.
