Nintendo Launches Official Amiibo Website and Reveals Hyrule Warriors Functionality

With the amiibo launch less than five days away, Nintendo has a launched the official amiibo website as a one-stop shop to get all the information one could want on the latest entry in the Toys to Life gaming category.

The website breaks out information into two distinct categories. The first is the amiibo figures with a complete interactive list of the first three waves, all based on characters and poses from Super Smash Bros. for Wii U. Wave 1 will be available this Friday, November 21. Wave 2 will arrive in early December, and Wave 3 is scheduled for sometime in February.

The second section of the official amiibo website shows the compatible games that will support amiibo this month with free downloadable updates, as well as the figures that will work with those games. They include Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, Mario Kar t 8, and Hyrule Warriors.

It turns out that all the amiibo figures will add a little something extra to Hyrule Warriors and not just Link and Zelda. Link will unlock the Spinner weapon and Zelda will unlock a three-star or more weapon. All the other amiibo figures will unlock a weapon rated 3 starts or lower, Rupee bonus or crafting material bonus when tapped into the game on a daily basis.

Mario Kart 8 compatible amiibos unlock special racing suits for Mii characters in the game. The Mario Kart 8 compatible amiibo figure list includes Mario, Yoshi, Link, Luigi, Peach, Donkey Kong, Captain Falcon, Kirby, Samus and Fox.

Future amiibo compatible games include Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, Yoshi’s Woolly World, Kirby and the Rainbow Curse, and Mario Party 10.

At $12.99 a pop, it will cost you $376.71 before tax to purchase all 29 announced amiibo figures. Of course, you could get a head start by buying Super Smash Bros. for Wii U at Toys “R” Us to get  one free amiibo this Friday, then take advantage of their three amiibo figures for $30 deal to save another $9.
