New ‘Sea Of Thieves’ Trailer Recruits A Goonie Or Two

Rare’s highly anticipated new open world pirate game, Sea of Thieves, releases tomorrow, and today, Microsoft unveiled the newest trailer for the Xbox One and Windows 10 exclusive game. The trailer is a live action spot featuring a Museum of More Pirate, curated by none other than the original pirate loving Goonie, Sean Astin.

Astin’s performance in the short trailer hints at an underlying knowledge of all things pirate, and there’s even a cameo at the very end of one of the greatest fictional pirates ever — One Eyed Willy!

While the trailer focuses more on the things that make a pirates life fun — if you call battling krakens and reanimated skeletons fun — and having played the various betas of Sea of Thieves, I can tell you that the game is the epitome of fun, it is a bit short on actual gameplay footage. But fear not, as Microsoft has us all covered.

In addition to the live action Sea of Thieves trailer, Microsoft also launched a new gameplay launch trailer that highlights the game itself. Characters and ships are fully customizable, and the adventure looks to be so much more than loot and plunder, rinse and repeat. This open world is vast and there is always something to do. The biggest question from the new gameplay trailer is: how the heck do you survive a kraken attack?!

I guess we’ll all find out starting tomorrow when Sea of Thieves sets sail, exclusively on the Xbox One and Windows 10.

Here is the brand new gameplay launch trailer. Stay tuned for a full review of the game that we called “the best [game] we’ve played all year,” which will be published very soon.
