Middle-earth: Shadow of War, sequel to the 2014 hit game, Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, has been officially announced. Slated for release on August 22nd 2017, for PS4, Xbox One and PC, Shadow of War will continue the story of the ranger Talion and his ghostly companion Celebrimbor.
Developer Monolith Productions will also be returning, continuing to expand on the Nemesis System from Shadow of Mordor. “Monolith Productions continues to innovate by introducing deeper, more personalized gameplay experiences, coupled with authentic storytelling,” said David Haddad, president of Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, in a prepared statement. “Middle-earth: Shadow of War truly drives the genre forward by taking the Nemesis System to new heights and allowing players to create their own personal journey within Middle-earth.”
The world of Middle-earth in Shadow of War will use this Nemesis System and the players actions to create a unique experience. The trailer shows the hero Talion forging a brand new Ring of Power as he fights to control the orc army against the evil Sauron and his Nazgul.
The game will be released four different versions: standard, silver, gold and mithril. Prices are not given yet.
When pre-ordering any version players will receive a legendary Champions War Part and exclusive epic Sword of Dominion.
The silver edition will include the Slaughter Tribe Nemesis Expansion, Outlaw Tribe Nemesis Expansion and a Silver War Chest. The Nemesis expansions include a new Orc Tribe featuring new enemies, followers, missions, abilities, weapons, fortress and wilderness updates, and a Mythic Gear Set.
The gold edition will also include The Blade of Galadriel Story Expansion, The Desolation of Mordor Story Expansion and a Gold War Chest. The story expansions introduce a new campaign, playable character and abilities, side missions, enemies, allies and lots more.
The mithril edition will include a limited edition 15-inch Tar-Goroth Balrog vs. Carnan Drake statue, a collection of exclusive lithographs, a premium case with magnetic Ring of Power, an exclusive steelcase, the official game music soundtrack, a cloth Map of Mordor, Tribes sticker pack and both gold and mithril war chests.
