We’re just about two weeks away from 343 Industries’ release of Halo Wars 2 exclusively for the Xbox One. Halo Wars 2 will be a play anywhere title from day one, and can also be played on Windows 10 systems. The game is a follow-up to the wildly successful Halo Wars, the first real-time strategy game set in the Halo universe.
Halo Wars 2 features a new epic story, picking up 28 years after the events from the first game, as the crew of the USNC Spirit of Fire wake up from cryosleep to find themselves orbiting a new, dangerous construct — one familiar to long time fans. Captain Cutter and his crew decide to investigate, and they find a whole new threat in the form of Atriox, an intelligent, dangerous Brute who is hell bent on eradicating the USNC and its forces.
Halo Wars 2 also has a full deck of multiplayer modes that are tailored to all skill levels, so veterans of the Halo Wars world will find challenge, but gamers new to the RTS Halo world can also compete. Domination, Skirmish, Strongholds, Deathmatch, and a new mode called Blitz gives the players choice in objectives, and completes the Halo Wars 2 package.
Halo Wars 2 will be available on February 21 on the Xbox One and Windows 10 devices. Ultimate Edition players will get an opportunity to jump start on the warring, as the game will be available on Friday, February 17, giving those players a full weekend to build their bases and take the fight to the enemy. As a play anywhere title, a single purchase allows gamers to play on either device.
Below find the all-new trailer for Halo Wars 2, and get yourself ready for an all-out war against friends and stranger, where thinking ahead is just as important as execution, and winning means more than just clearing an area of enemies.
