Taken 3 Gets the Unrated Treatment as Digital HD, DVD and Blu-ray Release Dates Revealed

Liam Neeson and his particular set of skills take a third and final lap through a sea of violence in Taken 3, the second Taken sequel that twists the conventional formula by having Bryan Mills (Neeson) framed for a brutal crime and pursued relentlessly by the authorities. Fox Home Entertainment has announced the Taken 3 Blu-ray release date falls on April 21, 2015 (same with DVD), while the Taken 3 Digital HD release date gets a head start on Thursday, April 2.

Taken 3, which also starts Famke Janssen and Maggie Grace, wasn’t quite as successful as the second installment at the domestic and worldwide box office but still has performed extremely well and further cemented Neeson as a top action star draw. North American box office earnings currently sit at $87.6 million, while worldwide business has reached $285.8 million. For comparison, Taken 2 finished just under $140 million domestically and $376.1 million worldwide.

The Blu-ray edition of Taken 3 is a combo pack with Digital HD (DVD is sold separately) and will be presented in 1080p video and 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio. A new unrated cut of the film is exclusive to Blu-ray. The bonus features include:

  • The Unrated Cut (Blu-ray Only)
  • Deleted Scene – Flashback Malankov
  • Sam’s Bunker A.K.A. The Rabbit Hole
  • Taken to L.A.
  • A Taken Legacy
