A pair of historic wrestling rivalries will be revisited in WWE 2K15 2K Showcase, a combination of archival footage, cinematics and playable challenges designed exclusively as a single-player campaign option. WWE 2K15 cover athlete John Cena is one of four wrestlers included for the new mode.
WWE 2K15 2K Showcase takes players through two of the most epic rivalries to ever rock WWE: Triple H and Shawn Michaels from 2002-2004, and John Cena and CM Punk from 2011 through 2013. The rivalries are explored through what 2K Sports is calling “documentary-style video packages of classic WWE footage, authentic WWE Superstar commentary and cinematic cut scenes” that are accompanied by a total of 33 challenges to play through spread across both rivalries and based upon actual matches.
The prizes for completing these challenges include unlocking championship belts and alternate outfits that can be used in the game’s other modes.
2K Sports has made it clear that though only two WWE 2K15 2K Showcase rivalries are included on the disc at launch, additional rivalries can — and most likely will be — made available via DLC after launch.
“Featuring two of the biggest rivalries in WWE history, including my storied matches with Shawn Michaels, there’s no doubt fans will experience the thrill first-hand through WWE 2K15,” stated WWE Executive Vice President, Talent, Live Events & Creative Paul “Triple H” Levesque about the new mode. “2K Showcase brings WWE to life in a way our fans have never seen before through a video game.”
WWE 2K15 will be released on Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 on October 28 in North America and three days later in other territories.
