After Comic-Con fans got a taste of the first The Hunger Games: Mockingjay trailer late last week, today Lionsgate delivered it and the first glimpse of the third film in the four-film saga to the rest of the world.
The first lines spoke in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 trailer come from Philip Seymour Hoffman as the ship carrying Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) lands in District 13. Here she meets President Coin (Julianne Moore) and prepares to lead a rebellion against President Snow (Donald Sutherland) and the oppressive regime ruling from the Capitol of Panem.
We also get our first look at the partially shaved head of Cressida (Natalie Dormer) and Gale (Liam Hemsworth), but there’s no sign of Peeta (J0sh Hutcherson) who was captured by President Snow’s goons at the conclusion of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 is the first film in the series that doesn’t include an actual Hunger Games event. Instead it will focus on the rebellion as Katniss becomes the leader she was born to be and sheds the reluctance that held her back during the first two films.
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 is directed by Francis Lawrence and arrives in theaters on November 21. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2, will conclude the saga on November 20, 2015.
