Assassin’s Creed 3 is turning into a really big deal for Ubisoft. How big? Yesterday the publisher and game developer announced that the upcoming sequel has broken the record for the most pre-ordered game in the company’s history.
To put that in perspective, Assassin’s Creed 3 has more than doubled the pre-orders achieved by last year’s Assassin’s Creed Revelations. The kicker is Revelations was the previous record holder.
This news clearly demonstrates two things. First, gamers have been waiting for a true Assassin’s Creed sequel to go all-in and plunk down their hard earned cash before playing the game. Second, Assassin’s Creed 3 is the first game in the franchise to cross the Atlantic and set its gameplay in North America. The stronger connection between North American gamers and the game’s setting, which is fresh and new to the franchise, is also likely helping spur early sales.

Assassin’s Creed 3 is coming to Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and the PC next week on Tuesday, October 30. The Wii U version will come ashore when that new console launches on November 18.
