Assassin’s Creed 3 is a new beginning for Ubisoft’s flagship franchise. A new hero, new setting, new time period and new game engine come together in creating an Assassin’s Creed experience that promises to knock us off our feet.
Powering Assassin’s Creed 3 on Xbox 360, PS3, Wii U and the PC is the new AnvilNext game engine. Ubisoft calls its redesign “radical” and suggests it offers seemingly endless possibilities within the Colonial United States lands.
This new Assassin’s Creed 3 engine is put on display in its own newly released trailer which you can watch below. AnvilNext renders the frontier, Boston complete with its harbor, and New York City. It bring battlefields with hundreds of soldiers to life, and gives players an opportunity to partake in naval combat. You’ll never know what the weather will be like on each play-through as all the snow, rain and sunny skies are dynamically generated.
AnvilNext aims to breathe life into Colonial America by not only filling the world with NPCs, but giving them appropriate things to do to maintain life during that time period. Assassin’s Creed 3 should be the most “alive” game in the franchise yet if Ubisoft can fill the world with NPCs performing unique tasks.
Assassin’s Creed 3 arrives on Xbox 360, PS3 and the PC on October 30, 2012. The Wii U version will be available during the console’s launch window expected to begin in late November.
