I’ve been seeing TV spots for Dead Island nearly every time I tune in to watch a show or sporting event. The already successful zombie apocalypse survival game is already a big hit, has a movie deal in place, and is now garnering more exposure heading into the holiday shopping season.
Dead Island 2 seems like a foregone conclusion at this point. Based on a recent trademark filing, it may already be underway.
Polish publisher Techland has registered a trademark in the United States for the name Dead World, the obvious next step for the franchise. It’s like the dinosaurs of Jurassic Park leaving the island for bigger pastures to terrorize. Dead World would be the new Lost World.
At this point nothing is set in stone and Techland is certainly in no position to start talking sequels this early in the game. The soonest I’d expect to see any kind of official confirmation about a Dead Island sequel would be E3 2012.
