Grand Theft Auto V Evidence Surfaces

Grand Theft Auto V rumors are hitting a fevered pitch this week as multiple indications another entry in the bestselling series is in development have surfaced around the same time.

The first indication comes from the resume of stuntman Declan Mulvey who listed Grand Theft Auto V alongside Red Dead Redemption and several other games in his body of work. After the fact CVG got in touch with Mulvey who claimed the listing was a typo and he forgot the “I” in front of the “V.” However, many are claiming Mulvey is actually covering his mistake given his IMDB resume has no mention of Grand Theft Auto IV.

Then there’s the matter of the wacky domain names Take-Two Interactive, the Grand Theft Auto series publisher, recently registered. Each sounds suspiciously like the types of faux businesses Rockstar loves to conjure up for laughs in their crime-riddled worlds: CashForDeadDreams.com, StopPayingYourMortgage.net, SixFigureTemps.com, HammersteinFaust.com, and LifeInvader.com.

Since the domains were registered the records have been altered to hide Take-Two Interactive as the owner. This move comes too little, too late as gaming fans are foaming at the mouth in anticipation of a potential Grand Theft Auto V teaser reveal that might possibly appear at E3 in June.

The last full Grand Theft Auto game was released in 2008. Analyst Michael Pachter has previously suggested Grand Theft Auto 5 will appear in 2011. In order for that to happen, Rockstar and Take-Two will need to start ramping up their publicity machine. I’m more inclined to believe we’ll see Grand Theft Auto 5 in 2012.
