Justin Timberlake and Anna Kendrick Will Headline ‘Trolls 2’ in 2020

DreamWorks Animation is hoping to turn some more frowns upside down with today’s announcement that the animated hit Trolls starring Justin Timberlake and Anna Kendrick is getting a sequel.

Trolls 2, as the sequel has already been officially named, will dance into theaters on April 10th, 2020. Timberlake and Kendrick are on board to reprise their roles of Branch and Poppy, respectively. Presumably other key character voices will tag along while new characters join the next adventure.

The original Trolls found success with nearly $340 million at the global box office by playing to a younger audience than most of its animated competition. A simple plot revolving around the idea of you can choose to be happy or not resonated with kids, and Timberlake’s Academy Award-nominated original song Can’t Stop the Feeling brought even more attention to the film with consistent airplay.

Trolls ended with the villain and her turncoat companion cast out into the cold night while the Trolls and their new friends, the lumbering Bergen, danced the night away. The spirit of happiness is sure to be tested once again.
