Sony Computer Entertainment has released an official overview and features for Resistance 2, currently in development by Insomniac Games and coming exclusively to Playstation 3 this fall.
Resistance 2 picks up right where the original left off as players take control of Nathan Hale who must stop the Chimera from successfully invading and destroying the United States.
In this fight, Hale will be joined by super soldiers known as “Sentinels.” What these mysterious new fighters are capable of or whether they’ll be command-able remains to be seen.
Resistance 2 will offer a new type of online cooperative mode where up to 8 players can simultaneously play a story line that parallels, but is not identical to, the single-player campaign. Players will be able to select classes in this mode, as well as unlock new armor sets and equipment along the way.
Adversarial online multiplayer has been expanded to allow up to 60 combatants to blast it out in a single map. Sony also touts a new “squad-based focus designed to balance progression, firefights and rivalries.”
