Today Warner Bros. Interactive announced a pair of new characters that will appear in the upcoming next-gen version of Mortal Kombat on Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.
The robotic ninja warrior Cyrax makes a triumphant return, as does the female warrior Kitana. You can see them in the screens below (click the thumbnails for a high-res look) along with some other familiar faces. They’ll all get a chance to brawl in The Desert and Bell Tower environments that have been created from the ground up for the game.
Mortal Kombat returns the series to its 2D mechanics and mature presentation which taking advantage of next-gen visuals. It is scheduled for release in 2011.
