Have you ever wanted to play within the Studio Ghibli animated films? Developer Level-5 and legendary Studio Ghibli are collaborating on Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch, a Playstation 3 exclusive fantasy adventure game that will be available this upcoming winter from publisher Namco Bandai.
Level-5 is best known for developing the Professor Layton series of games as well as Dragon Quest VIII and Dragon Quest IX. They are promising the RPG is something that will be “remembered for years.”
Studio Ghibli has released numerous critically acclaimed animated films including Spirited Away, Ponyo, My Neighbour Totoro and Castle in the Sky, as well as the upcoming film The Secret World of Arrietty. Their unique artistic style is evident in the Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch screenshots and trailer below.
In addition, Studio Ghibli’s preferred composer Joe Hisaishi will be providing the music for the game.
In Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch, players assume the role of Oliver, a young boy who travels to a parallel work to learn the magic required to bring his mother back from the dead. His journey will cross paths with many creatures that will aid him to battle aggressive monsters.
Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch will include both English and Japanese language tracks, much like some Studio Ghibli films do.
